Hoyer Cardin Visit Foreclosure Prevention Workshop

Bay Net By Andy Marquis Congressman Steny Hoyer (D: MD-5th) and United States Senator Ben Cardin (D: MD) visited a foreclosure prevention workshop at the College of Southern Maryland’s La Plata campus on Saturday. They stressed the importance of knowledge and spoke about what President Barack Obama (D) has done to help those underwater. Multiple banks were offering advice. Attorneys and counselors were also on hand to provide advice to people. Hoyer and Cardin both toured the event. Cardin spoke about the problem of subprime mortgages and praised President Obama’s leadership on helping those who are underwater and regulating the banks. Hoyer also spoke of Congress’ efforts. “As we continue to recover from the worst economic period since the Great Depression a lot of good responsible people are having a tough time making ends meet ” Hoyer said. “That’s why Senator Cardin and I partnered with the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development for this event today to ensure residents have the information and resources they need to stay in their homes. While our economy is getting better and we’re moving forward there is still much work do and I will continue to advocate for solutions to help families in Maryland and across the country." Dozens of people attended throughout the day. The counselors and attorneys all volunteered. Jobs/Economy/Small Business
