Hoyer nominates local students to the U.S. Air Force Academy
GREENBELT, MD - Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) met with three Fifth District students he nominated to the U.S. Air Force Academy, June 19. The students were offered appointments and depart on June 25 for the Academy in El Paso County, Colorado. The Air Force Academy is one of five service academies in the United States and requires a nomination from an authorized nominating source.
“These three students have exhibited great personal character and academic achievement to earn an appointment to the U.S. Air Force Academy, and it was truly an honor and privilege to nominate them,” said Congressman Steny Hoyer. “These students are our nation’s future leaders, and I am very pleased to have been able to assist them as they prepare to serve our country. Women have made significant contributions to our nation’s military, and I couldn’t be more proud that these young ladies from the Fifth District will be joining that proud legacy.”
The Air Force Academy appointees are Kobi Holmes of Lexington Park, a graduate of St. Mary’s Ryken High School; Kathryn Kampsen of Dunkirk, a graduate of Northern High School; and Mai-Lin Quinto of Indian Head, a graduate of Lackey High School.
