Congressman Hoyer Files for Re-Election
ANNAPOLIS MD – Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) released the following statement today after officially filing his candidacy for re-election to represent Maryland’s Fifth District in the U.S. House of Representatives: “I am proud to seek re-election in Maryland’s Fifth District which I have been honored to represent in Congress. Throughout my career I have fought tirelessly to protect and create good-paying jobs put our nation on a sound fiscal path strengthen the middle class support our seniors and veterans and secure fair pay and benefits for federal employees. In the Fifth District and in Washington I will continue to work on a bipartisan basis to address these important priorities. “I remain committed to replacing the sequester in its entirety with a balanced alternative that protects jobs national security and investments in our future. I am also focused on strengthening our economy and creating jobs through the Make It In America plan I’ve put forward in Congress to strengthen manufacturing and create jobs that pay well here in Maryland and throughout the country. Additionally I remain dedicated to protecting the Medicare guarantee for our seniors ending the backlog our veterans are facing and ensuring equal pay for equal work. “I look forward to continuing to work on behalf of Fifth District residents over the next year and earning their vote for re-election.” ###
