Educators Endorse Hoyer’s Reelection to Congress
BOWIE, MD – National and local educators have endorsed Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) in his reelection to Congress, including the National Education Association (NEA), the Maryland State Education Association, the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), and AFT Maryland.
“I am honored to receive the endorsements of the National Education Association, the Maryland State Education Association, the American Federation of Teachers, and AFT Maryland,” said Congressman Hoyer. “The great Marylander Frederick Douglas once said, ‘It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men,’ and that is what educators are working to do each and every day -- teaching our children and preparing them for a bright and successful future. I have been proud to partner with these organizations and others to ensure Congress invests in our teachers and students, and I look forward to continuing to work together to support our educators in Maryland and across the country.”
“On behalf of The NEA Fund for Children and Public Education, the political action committee of the NEA, it is my pleasure to notify you of The NEA Fund’s decision to recommend your election to the U.S. House of Representatives,” wrote Lily Eskelsen Garcia, President of NEA. “The Maryland State Education Association – which recommended your candidacy – and The NEA Fund applaud your commitment to public education and children.”
