Environmental Groups Endorse Hoyer’s Reelection to Congress
BOWIE, MD – Congressman Steny H. Hoyer has been endorsed for his reelection to Congress in the Fifth Congressional District by a number of environmental groups, including the League of Conservation Voters and the Sierra Club.
“In Congress, we have a responsibility to preserve and protect our environment for future generations,” said Congressman Hoyer.“Throughout my career, I have worked hard to secure funding to clean up the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries, restore our oyster population, and preserve our parks and open green space, which are important to our history and cultural heritage. I look forward to working with the League of Conservation Voters, the Sierra Club, and others to continue this work and oppose efforts to roll back environmental protections that keep our air, land, and water clean, and I thank them for their support.”
“Congressman Hoyer is a true statesman and public servant who has skillfully helped rally House Democrats against the relentless and extreme attacks on our environment waged by polluter-backed members of Congress,” said LCV Action Fund President Gene Karpinski. “Congressman Hoyer is a trusted and respected leader who gets the job done—to continue making progress on climate change, we need his expertise and experience leading the way.”
“We are pleased to inform you that the Sierra Club has endorsed your candidacy for the 2016 election cycle,” wrote Michael Brune, Khalid Pitts, and Ken Brame of the Sierra Club. “The Sierra Club’s National Politicla Team and Maryland Chapter are pleased to support your campaign in appreciation of your demonstrated commitment to protecting America’s environment.”
