First Responders Endorse Hoyer’s Reelection to Congress
BOWIE, MD – Congressman Steny H. Hoyer has been endorsed for his reelection to Congress in the Fifth Congressional District by a number of first responder organizations, including the National Troopers Coalition, the Prince George’s County Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 89, the Professional Fire Fighters of Maryland, and the Prince George’s County Fire Fighters and Paramedics Association.
“I’m honored to be endorsed by our first responders, who are on the front lines every day protecting our families and communities,” stated Congressman Hoyer. “Serving as the Co-Chair of the Congressional Fire Services Caucus and as a member of the Law Enforcement Caucus has provided me with the opportunity to raise awareness in Congress of the extraordinary work and service our law enforcement officers, firefighters and paramedics perform. I will continue to work with our first responders in the Fifth District and across Maryland to ensure they have the support and resources they need.”
“The National Troopers Coalition, once again, is proud to publicly support and endorse Congressman Steny Hoyer for reelection to the United States Congress,” said Mathew Hodapp, Chairman of the National Troopers Coalition. “Congressman Hoyer has been a consistent and steady voice for public safety professionals. His continued leadership to enhance law enforcement communications and provide life safety equipment, helps Troopers across the country safely and effectively respond to the daily challenges of law enforcement service. On behalf of the 50,000 State Troopers and Highway Patrol Officers across this country, we are pleased to stand with Congressman Hoyer.”
“The Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 89 is pleased to announce its endorsement of Congressman Steny Hoyer,” said Dean M. Jones, President of the Fraternal Order of Police, Prince George’s County Local 89. “Congressman Hoyer has earned our respect through a career of hard work and dedication to the men and women of law enforcement. His tireless efforts promoting the safety and well-being of police officers puts him head and shoulders above all other candidates.”
“Congressman Hoyer has shown that Public Safety is, and will, continue to be a top priority not only for the state of Maryland, but the entire country,” said Michael Rund, President of the Professional Fire Fighters of Maryland. “Congressman Hoyer took a lead role in helping to establish the Assistance to Firefighter Grant Program to help local fire departments buy equipment and provide adequate training. Steny has always been a strong supporter of first responders protecting our communities and has worked to ensure that firefighters and emergency response personnel have the equipment and training they need in the event of an emergency.”
“Congressman Hoyer has consistently and tirelessly been a champion for firefighters and first responders in Prince George’s County and throughout the state of Maryland,” said Andrew Pantelis, President of the Prince George’s County Professional Fire Fighters and Paramedics Association. “He has continuously advocated for federal funding for local Fire Departments to hire and retain new firefighters. It is truly an honor to have someone with the passion of Steny Hoyer taking a leadership role on behalf of Fire Service members who place their lives on the line every day to protect our communities.”
