Hoyer Attends 9th Annual Western Maryland Democratic Summit
HAGERSTOWN MD – Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) attended the 9th annual Western Maryland Democratic Summit today. At the event he delivered the Afternoon Keynote Address and participated in a panel discussion led by former Maryland Secretary of State John Willis on the 2012 election. “I was honored by the opportunity to come to Hagerstown and spend time with the outstanding Western Maryland Democrats who helped send John Delaney to Congress and turn Western Maryland from red to blue ” stated Congressman Hoyer. “Today I discussed the two major challenges we face as a country – fiscal stability and job creation.” “I continue to push both parties to reach agreement on a big and balanced plan that can replace the sequester and put our nation on a fiscally sustainable path – and I know the rest of the Maryland’s Congressional Democrats are doing so as well ”continued Congressman Hoyer. “I'm also leading the Make It In America plan which aims to create jobs by making our country the best place to launch or locate a business – especially in the manufacturing sector. I'm hopeful we can work with Republicans to make progress on both issues so we can achieve a big balanced solution to deficits and pass legislation to help our businesses and middle class families make it in America. I thank Western Maryland Democrats for their hard work and look forward to joining with them as we lay the groundwork for continued Democratic victories in Maryland next year.” Federal state and local officials attended the Summit including Senators Barbara A.
