Hoyer Attends Anne Arundel County Democratic Central Committee Dinner
LINTHICUM HEIGHTS, MD – Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) tonight delivered brief remarks at the Anne Arundel County Democratic Central Committee's Annual Celebration Dinner. Congressman Elijah Cummings (MD-7) served as the keynote speaker.
“I’m proud to represent part of Anne Arundel County in Congress,” said Congressman Steny Hoyer. “I was pleased to join fellow Democrats tonight, not only to chart the course of our party in Anne Arundel County and in Maryland, but to stand on the cusp of a historic election with monumental consequences for our communities, our state, and our country. I’m confident that the next president of the United States is going to be a Democrat – and she’s going to be focused on bringing our country together and leading with the seriousness of purpose necessary to surmount our greatest challenges. But the presidency is only one part of our government – only one leg of the three-legged stool upon which our laws are made and policies set. That’s why it is critical that we take an all-hands-on-deck approach to this year’s election and do everything it takes to elect a Democratic Senator to succeed Barbara Mikulski and elect strong Democrats to the House across our state.”
“We’re going to bring voters our message that America is strongest when it holds fast to the values under which it was founded: tolerance, cooperation, equality, and respect for all people,” continued Congressman Hoyer. “But we also need to acknowledge that there are very real fears and uncertainties that Americans across our country are experiencing. We must renew Americans’ faith in their government by offering them a government that is always on their side – one that gives them the tools they need to succeed, to get ahead, and to reach for the American Dream.”
The Anne Arundel County Democratic Central Committee is the governing body for the Democratic Party in Anne Arundel County, and is chaired by Christine Davenport.
