Hoyer Attends Annual Louis Goldstein Dinner
CHESAPEAKE BEACH, MD – Last night, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) attended the annual LouisGoldstein Dinner, hosted by the Calvert County Democratic Central Committee, and presented the Louis GoldsteinAward to Governor Martin O’Malley. In addition, Stovy Brown received the Central Committee Chairman’s Award, Pearl Miller received the Community Service Award, and Kathy Vogan received the Dan Pike Volunteer of the Year Award.
“I was proud to join Calvert County Democrats last night to celebrate the legacy of Louis Goldstein and all those who are working to keep it alive through dedicated service,” stated Congressman Hoyer. “It was a great honor to receive the Louis L. Goldstein Award last year, and I can think of no more deserving recipient for this year’s award than our outstanding Governor, Martin O’Malley. Today, thanks to his leadership, Maryland has recovered all of the jobs it lost as a result of the recession, and we have invested in building a competitive economy for the long-term. In addition, our schools lead the country as a model for success, our streets are safer, and the American dream is within reach for more Marylanders. Louis Goldstein would be proud of the work he is doing to make our state a better place for Maryland families and businesses. I join in congratulating him, as well as Stovy, Pearl, and Kathy, and thanking them for the outstanding work they have done on behalf of Calvert County and the state of Maryland.
Other federal, state, and local elected officials attended including Senator Ben Cardin, Attorney General Doug Gansler, Comptroller Peter Franchot, Maryland Senate President Mike Miller, State Senator Roy Dyson, State Senator Brian Frosh, Delegate Jon Cardin, Rev. Delman Coates, Maryland Secretary of State John McDonough, Maryland Secretary of Agriculture Buddy Hance, and Maryland Democratic Party Chair Yvette Lewis.
