Hoyer Discusses the Importance of the Children's Health Insurance Program
WALDORF, MD – This afternoon, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) met with doctors, staff, and patients at Children’s Pediatricians and Associates to discuss the importance of the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) for families in the Fifth District. 137,592 children in Maryland are enrolled in the CHIP program.
“I appreciated the opportunity to meet with doctors, staff, and patients this afternoon to discuss the importance of the Children’s Health Insurance Program,” said Congressman Hoyer. “CHIP provides vital, affordable health care for nearly 140,000 children in our state, a number of whom receive care at this facility.”
“Congress must reauthorize CHIP by the end of September, and so far, Republicans have failed to act to extend this extremely important program,” continued Congressman Hoyer. “We must not play political games with the health and well-being of children in Maryland. Ensuring all children have access to quality health care must remain a top priority, and I will continue to urge my colleagues to work together to quickly reauthorize this critical program. I want to thank the doctors, staff, and patients at Children’s Pediatricians and Associates for joining in this important discussion.
