Hoyer: Hillary Clinton Makes History Accepting Democratic Nomination for President
PHILADELPHIA, PA – House Democratic Whip Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement after Hillary Clinton accepted the Democratic Party’s nomination for President:
“With her acceptance of the Democratic nomination for president, Hillary Clinton has made history. But she is the first to remind us that this election isn't about her or about any individual candidate. This election represents more than a choice between parties - it is a question of whether we will abandon the values and strengths that have always made our nation great or keep faith with them.
“The presidency is the most powerful and consequential public office of responsibility in the world. Someone like Donald Trump, who has failed repeatedly at business, who sows division and condones violence, and who undermines our national security by calling for a weakening of our alliances and interference in our domestic affairs by foreign adversaries, must never be allowed to hold that office. But it isn't enough to deny the presidency to an unqualified demagogue; we must elect someone who is extremely qualified, possessing great intellect and vision, and committed to the work of helping all our people Make It In America. Hillary Clinton is that person and will be an extraordinary President of the United States.
“Over the next three months, I will be working hard to elect her and outstanding Democrats up and down the ticket. Together, we can continue building on the progress we've made over the past eight years to recover our economy and ensure that the blessings of liberty and the American Dream carry forward through the twenty-first century and beyond.”
