Hoyer Hosts Foreclosure Prevention Workshop
LA PLATA MD – Today Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) attended a foreclosure prevention workshop that he hosted along with U.S. Senator Ben Cardin (D-MD) the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development and Charles County government to provide housing services to Maryland residents. “As we continue to recover from the worst economic period since the Great Depression a lot of good responsible people are having a tough time making ends meet ” stated Congressman Hoyer. “That’s why Senator Cardin and I partnered with the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development for this event today to ensure residents have the information and resources they need to stay in their homes. While our economy is getting better and we’re moving forward there is still much work do and I will continue to advocate for solutions to help families in Maryland and across the country." At the workshop residents met with loan servicers housing counselors and attorneys and learned how foreclosure can be prevented and how Maryland’s foreclosure prevention law affects them. Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development Secretary Raymond Skinner U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) representative Carol Bryant Payne HUD Faith Based Liaison Melanie Murray Mfume and HomeFree USA attorney Gary Plummer also participated in the event.
