Hoyer Observes Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day in the Fifth District
FIFTH DISTRICT, MD - Today, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) observed Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day at events throughout the Fifth Congressional District, including St. Mary’s College of Maryland’s 16th annual prayer breakfast and the Charles County NAACP’s 25th annual prayer breakfast.
"On this day of remembrance, I was glad to join my constituents in the Fifth District to recognize the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.," said Congressman Hoyer. "Today's celebrations were a reminder that we must continue to work to achieve Dr. King's goals of tolerance, equality, peace, justice, and opportunity. In this new year and new decade, let us follow Dr. King's example and be better and kinder to one another, and let us be bolder in our pursuit of justice and peace."
Congressman Hoyer also encourages Fifth District residents to participate in the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service by volunteering in the community. The MLK Day of Service is the only federal holiday observed as a national day of service – a “day on, not a day off.” Click here to learn more.
