Hoyer Participates in Roundtable Discussion with Federally Qualified Health Centers
WEST RIVER, MD – This morning, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) met with care providers from across the state at Owensville Primary Care, a federally qualified health center.
“I was pleased to attend a roundtable discussion at Owensville Primary Care this morning and meet with care providers who are on the front lines of health care in our state. Thanks to the Affordable Care Act, health centers across our state have received additional resources, and are able to serve more patients as a result. These centers provide access to care for thousands of Marylanders and funding them must remain a top priority in this Congress.
“Last month, Republican leaders tried to jam a bill through Congress which would cause nearly 400,000 Marylanders to lose access to quality, affordable health care, force hundreds of thousands of families to pay more for less care, and would drastically cut Medicaid. Thankfully their efforts failed, but Republicans continue to work to undermine the health care system in our country. I will continue to strongly oppose efforts to repeal the Affordable Care Act and will continue to fight for federal funding that makes it possible for these centers to extend their services, particularly to those impacted by the Opioid epidemic and those in underserved areas. I want to thank the staff at Owensville Primary Care and all our federally qualified health centers for the work they do to ensure all Marylanders have access to the care they need.”
