Hoyer Statement On Earth Day
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) released the following statement today in recognition of Earth Day:
“On Earth Day we are reminded of the special responsibility we have to preserve our land, air, water, and other natural resources for generations to come. In Maryland, we take great pride in the Chesapeake Bay and its tributaries, and throughout my career, I have worked to secure the resources needed to improve these waterways and restore the oyster population, which is critical to both the health of the Bay and to the livelihood of many Marylanders. However, we have much more work to do to protect our waterways and reverse the effects of pollution. I look forward to working with federal, state, and local officials on measures that will reduce pollution, protect our air and water, advance clean energy alternatives, and promote responsible stewardship of our most treasured natural resources.”
