Hoyer Statement Following the Final Presidential Debate

BOWIE, MD - Congressman Steny H. Hoyer released the following statement after the final Presidential debate:

“Tonight, President Trump had one last opportunity to explain to the American people what he would do to keep them safe from COVID-19 and help those struggling in our economy. He had one final chance to demonstrate to voters that he takes their concerns seriously and has a policy agenda for a second term. Unsurprisingly, he did not do so, opting instead to treat the debate process as a circus and offering no serious policy proposals. He continued to make the best case to the voters himself why they ought to remove him from an office for which he is wholly unfit.

“In sharp contrast, once again Joe Biden brought calm and composure, respect and transparency. He offered straight answers to the tough questions and made it clear that he has a plan to defeat this pandemic and build back better - and that he can work with both Democrats and Republicans in Congress to get it done. He and Kamala Harris are ready to take on those who threaten our country, seek to undermine our democracy, and wish to divide us against one another. They will restore the soul and character of America by bringing our nation together to face our greatest challenges as one.

“With just twelve days before the election, the choice is clear. I urge everyone who has not already voted to make a plan to do so. For four years, tens of millions of Americans have been waiting for the opportunity to set our nation back on a steady course and right our ship of state. That moment has now arrived. Vote.”
