Hoyer Statement on Governor Hogan's Veto of the Mid-Atlantic Redistricting Compact

WASHINGTON, DC - Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) released the following statement after Governor Larry Hogan vetoed legislation to establish the Mid-Atlantic Redistricting Compact:

"Yesterday, Governor Hogan vetoed legislation to establish the Mid-Atlantic Redistricting Compact because it effects more than one state, but every state ought to have a commission to create a level playing field. As I indicated in a letter to Governor Hogan prior to the National Governor's Association meeting earlier this year, I would hope that he would urge all Republican Governors to advocate for national redistricting reform in Congress. If Governor Hogan truly believes that redistricting reform is appropriate, to which I agree, then he will ask every Republican governor - and I will ask every Democratic governor - to support passage of bipartisan, national reform in Congress. Otherwise, it is simply a partisan effort to help one party."
