Hoyer Statement on Joe Biden Accepting the Democratic Nomination for President

 

"Tonight, Joe Biden accepted the Democratic Party's nomination to serve as the next President of the United States.  In doing so, however, he made it clear that he will not just be a president for Democrats or those who vote for him.  Unlike the current occupant of the Oval Office, Joe Biden will be a president for all Americans and work to bring our country together to confront and surmount our greatest challenges.  A man of empathy and intellect, experience and talent, Joe Biden is the president we need to restore the soul and promise of America after the disastrous four years of the failed Trump Administration.

"Joe Biden is ready.  He has been tested both by profound loss and by great challenges.  Like the nation he seeks to serve, he has always demonstrated a determination to get back up whenever he's been knocked down.  That's what he will do as our next president: help America lift itself up and rise to our challenges, restore our leadership in the world, and build back better.  Tonight, he showed us the kind of true leadership our nation has lacked in the White House these past four years - and he laid out a vision for keeping the promise of America for all in our country today and for generations to come.
