Hoyer Statement on the Maryland Primary
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD) released the following statement tonight after Lt. Governor Anthony Brown and Howard County Executive Ken Ulman won Maryland’s Democratic Primary:
“I congratulate Anthony Brown and Ken Ulman on being selected as the Democratic Party’s nominees for Governor and Lt. Governor of the state of Maryland.
“With nearly 30 years of service to our country in the military and 16 years as a Maryland elected official – first serving in the Maryland General Assembly and currently as our Lieutenant Governor – Anthony has proven to be an extraordinarily capable leader who is dedicated to expanding opportunity for more Marylanders.
“From encouraging new economic development to expanding pre-kindergarten for Maryland children, Anthony has a proven record of delivering results for Maryland families. As our next Governor, I know he will build on the progress we have already made together. I also congratulate his running mate, Ken Ulman, who has served as a dynamic leader for Howard County and who will make an outstanding Lieutenant Governor. I look forward to continuing to partner with them as they work to build a better Maryland.
“Attorney General Doug Gansler, Delegate Jolene Ivey, Delegate Heather Mizeur, and Reverend Delman Coates are all outstanding public servants, and I thank them for their commitment to all Marylanders. Now that the primary is over, I know that Maryland Democrats will come together ahead of November's election in support of our party's ticket and stand united to send Anthony Brown and Ken Ulman to Annapolis.”
