Hoyer Statement On Memorial Day
WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) released the following statement today in recognition of Memorial Day, which is observed on Monday, May 26:
“I join in honoring the fallen heroes of our nation this Memorial Day and in upholding our shared responsibility to comfort and care for the loved ones and communities they left behind. From the trenches of World War I, whose centennial we observe this year, to the beaches of Normandy seventy years ago, from Vietnam and Korea to Iraq and Afghanistan, the courage and sacrifice of our service members has no equal.
“As we remember our fallen soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines, let us continue to ensure that our men and women serving in uniform have our support and our prayers - and that we keep faith with our military personnel, our veterans, and their families. And let us make certain that Congress always meets its commitment to those who put their lives on the line for our nation and the values we hold dear.”
