Hoyer Statement on President Obama's Visit to Upper Marlboro Maryland
UPPER MARLBORO MD– Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) released the following statement today after President Obama visited Upper Marlboro Maryland to discuss his plan to improve the fuel efficiency of American trucks: “I’m proud President Obama chose to visit Prince George’s County once again to discuss the priorities he laid out in his State of the Union address. Today he reflected on the progress we have made in improving fuel efficiency of American vehicles and outlined additional actions the Administration will take to improve the fuel economy of medium and heavy-duty trucks in the U.S. These actions will not only reduce our reliance on foreign oil and cut down on pollution but will also reduce refueling costs for businesses and consumers and spur manufacturing innovation here at home. “While these are important steps for our nation Congress must also do its part to secure a more energy-efficient future by funding research and development for advanced vehicle technologies supporting the development and deployment of alternative fuels and increasing investment in advanced vehicles and infrastructure. I urge my colleagues in Congress to work together to address these priorities which will improve our energy independence and security and strengthen American innovation.” Jobs and the Economy
