Hoyer Statement on Signing of Export-Import Bank Reauthorization
WASHINGTON DC – Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) released the following statement after President Obama signed into law the bipartisan bill to reauthorize the Export-Import Bank: “I was honored to join the President today as he signed into law a bipartisan bill that I helped negotiate to reauthorize the Export-Import Bank. The bill which passed the House with a bipartisan vote of 330-93 is an important part of House Democrats’ Make It In America plan for job creation and long-term economic competitiveness. “The Export-Import Bank helps companies sell their goods all over the world and supports job creation. Over the past five years the Export-Import Bank has supported over $1 billion in export sales in Maryland and the signing of this legislation will enable it to expand its financing and contribute to further growth in exports and jobs. “While I am pleased that this legislation was signed into law today Congress must continue to work together to put Americans back to work and grow our economy. I hope both parties will work toward the passage of additional Make It In America legislation that will help our businesses create well paying jobs that can sustain the growth of a strong middle class today and for the next generation.” Jobs/Economy/Small Business
