Hoyer Thanks Maryland State and District of Columbia AFL-CIO for Endorsement at 29th Biennial Convention
PIKESVILLE MD – Last night Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-5) delivered remarks at a reception during the Maryland State and District of Columbia AFL-CIO 29th Biennial Convention. At the event he thanked the organization for their endorsement which was voted on earlier in the day. “I was pleased to join the Maryland State and District of Columbia AFL-CIO and thank them for their endorsement ” stated Congressman Hoyer. “I am proud of the work that we have engaged in together to fight against attacks on workers’ rights and promote the creation of jobs and opportunities. Together we stood in solidarity with federal employees to end the government shutdown and we’ve been working to promote the Make It In America plan I’m leading in Congress to encourage the return of jobs from overseas and manufacturing growth here at home. I am grateful for their endorsement as well as their continued support for Democratic candidates in Maryland including Lt. Governor Brown who was also endorsed at the Convention.” “Maryland State and District of Columbia AFL-CIO proudly endorses Congressman Steny Hoyer ” stated President Fred Mason. “Congressman Hoyer is a fearless leader who takes on the hard fights. Just this month we witnessed forces who shut down government but Democrats in the House stood firm on the issue of reopening government and putting tens of thousands of working men and women back to work. The fact that Democrats were united was due in no small part to the leadership of our Congressman Steny Hoyer.” Congressman Hoyer officially filed his candidacy for re-election to represent Maryland’s Fifth District in the U.S. House of Representatives last month. ###
