Hoyer Visits FEMA Headquarters to Thank Federal Employees
WASHINGTON, DC – This afternoon, Congressman Steny H. Hoyer (MD-05) visited the headquarters of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the National Response Coordination Center with Speaker Paul Ryan (WI-01) and Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (CA-12). Congressman Hoyer received an update on the federal government’s response to Hurricane Maria and thanked the hardworking FEMA federal employees who have worked tirelessly in responding to Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria.
“I appreciated learning more about the critical work our federal employees are doing to help Americans rebuilding in Texas, Louisiana, Florida, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands,” said Congressman Hoyer. “Many of these individuals have been working nonstop since Hurricane Harvey hit the United States over 40 days ago. I join in thanking our federal workforce for the incredibly important work they are doing right now to address the life and safety needs of our fellow Americans in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands.”
“I will continue to urge the Trump Administration to deploy more resources, especially military assets, to ensure that the people of Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands are receiving the assistance they need,” continued Congressman Hoyer. “FEMA and other agencies involved in the relief efforts must have every available resource to assist these communities as they continue their response efforts and begin the process of rebuilding. I thank the hardworking federal employees for their dedication in responding to these natural disasters.”
