Today with a pivotal election just six months away the right to vote is once again under threat from Republican-controlled state legislatures seeking to restrict access to the ballot.

Hurricane Irene left in its wake many downed trees and power lines and a large population without power. Although most waterfront areas unlike Isabel were spared major flooding there were some notable exceptions including the St. Mary’s River in Great Mills and Town Run in Leonardtown at Maryland Antiques Center and the Port of Leonardtown.

Hoyer D-St. Mary's County represents southern Anne Arundel and raised $1.2 million since the 2010 election. He raised $716 214 between April and July of this year and his $996 927 campaign chest is the largest of the four congressmen currently representing Anne Arundel.
